As always, our Jazz Party will feature weekend-long performances by world-class, mainstream jazz musicians, all of whom are popular and renowned recording artists.

We have an annual tradition of honoring one of our musicians as an SDJP "Jazz Legend" for his or her outstanding contribution to America's jazz heritage. In 2010, we honored the venerable drummer, the late Jake Hanna, who died a week before our festival. Past honorees have included Ed Polcer, the late Barney Kessel, trumpet legend Joe Wilder, pianist/composer Dick Hyman, Jeannie Cheatham and the late Jimmy Cheatham. In 2011, we were pleased to honor one of the world's greatest and best known jazz guitarists - Bucky Pizzarelli. In 2012 we honored another noted and highly acclaimed tenor saxophone artist, Houston Person. It will be our pleasure in 2013 to honor the accomplished pianist and international performer, Johnny Varro.

Our three-day festival will be held again in the ballroom of the Hilton San Diego/Del Mar - a great location for a weekend of good food, relaxation, libations, and outstanding classic jazz. Those who purchase Patron badges for the three-day weekend will be Jazz Party guests on Friday afternoon for a Cocktail Party and for brunch on Saturday morning. Music will be provided at both events.
